Himalayan Rhubarb Infused Unscented Tallow Soap

A soft blush bar, quietly natural, made with olive oil slowly infused with Himalayan rhubarb root for several weeks before the batch is ever poured. There are no essential oils and nothing added for scent — the bar tells its story through the ingredients themselves.

The rhubarb infusion is the whole story. We steep the root in olive oil for weeks, giving the oil time to release its blush colour before it ever meets the soap pot. Every batch is slightly different: the age of the root, the length of the infusion and the temperature of the room where the batch was poured all leave their fingerprint. Some bars finish closer to rose; some to terracotta.

Olive oil is naturally high in oleic acid and contributes to the mild, creamy character of the finished bar. Because it also carries the rhubarb infusion, olive oil sits closer to the front of this recipe than in most.

Grass-fed tallow gives the bar its firm structure and long-wearing body. A careful pour of coconut adds cleansing bubbles; a small amount of castor keeps the lather steady.

Completely unscented. Slow creamy lather. Soft blush pink — never twice the same.
