Traditional Unscented Tallow Soap

The most simple bar in the ALATI workshop. Grass-fed tallow, olive oil, coconut and castor — nothing added for colour, nothing added for scent. A bar that reflects traditional handcrafted soap making in its most honest form.

Grass-fed tallow gives the bar its firm, long-lasting body and the dense, slow, creamy character of the lather. Tallow's balanced fatty-acid composition is the reason the bar finishes as firm as it does and lasts as long as it does on a bench — practical, purposeful qualities that have kept it at the centre of traditional soap making for centuries.

Olive oil brings the Mediterranean side of the recipe, contributing to the mild, creamy character of the finished bar. It is also at the heart of our family's soap-making story: my grandmother on Kalymnos made olive-oil soap after slowly infusing the oil with mountain thyme. This is not her exact recipe, but it carries the same philosophy — simple ingredients, careful preparation and nothing unnecessary.

Coconut oil adds cleansing strength and abundant bubbles. Castor oil, in a small careful pour, supports and stabilises the lather.

Soft cream — the natural tone of well-made tallow soap. Slow, rich lather. A naturally mild aroma of the fats themselves.
